White House Crashers: The Longer Interview

Embedded below is a further 7 minutes of Matt Lauer's interview with the Tareq and Michaele Salahi this morning on the Today Show. They are subdued throughout and say that they have been "mischaracterized" by the press and that their lives have been destroyed as a result.

Michaele goes on to assert that they were, in fact, invited to the state dinner. No one would have the "audacity" to crash such an event, she says. (I loved that.) But then when Matt asks bluntly, "who invited you?" they stumble a bit before segueing into a rambling promise to continue to work with the Secret Service. Then they promise to bring Matt Lauer some e-mails in support of their claim to have been invited. (E-mails!) If you watch this to the end there is a great moment when Matt Lauer ambushes them with a question about why they were also kicked out of a Congressional Black Caucus dinner they crashed just days before the White House state dinner.
