The Prejudicial Power of Punctuation

There's an article posted on MSNBC.com this morning about the CBS News producer at the center of the Letterman extortion scandal. The focus of the article is an interview with his defense lawyer that was broadcast on the "Today" show yesterday. The headline caught my eye:

Alleged Letterman Plotter Is "Innocent"

You know you're in serious legal jeopardy when news articles are being written about you and the word "innocent" is set off in quotation marks.
