McDonalds Is Huge In France

An article in Britain's "Telegraph" newspaper about the opening of a new McDonalds fast food restaurant in the Louvre noted in passing that France has apparently become the chain's biggest market outside of the United States. That surprised me. I would have thought for sure that China was a bigger market, and probably Germany and Japan as well. But the United Kingdom is apparently number 2.

Because this surprised me, I checked out the French McDonalds website briefly. And just as John Travolta told Samuel L. Jackson 15 years ago in 1994's "Pulp Fiction" (at the 1:10 mark in the clip embedded below), McDonalds in Paris does indeed still offer the "Royal Cheese." (Apparently to considerable success.)
