Agatha Christie Died On This Date

Mystery writer Agatha Christie died on this date in 1976, at the age of 85. I've never read any of her books (to my discredit), but I really liked the 1974 film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. I don't know if you've ever seen it. If not, I've embedded the trailer below. The "All Star" cast really is eye popping: there's Albert Finney as Poirot, but then also Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman, Richard Widmark, Michael York, John Gielgud, and the list goes on.

It was nominated for 6 Academy Awards, including Paul Dehn for Best Adapted Screenplay. Paul Dehn also wrote the screenplays for Goldfinger (1964), The Spy Who Came In From The Cold (1965), Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971), Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), and Battle For the Planet of the Apes (1973). Paul Dehn passed away in 1976, as well.

Christie, who died not long after the film's release, was apparently generally happy with it, except for Albert Finney's mustache. It did not look, she thought, as she had described in her book, like "the finest moustache in England."
