Letterman Extortion Attempt

David Letterman, 62, explained on his show last night that he had been the victim of an extortion attempt over alleged sexual affairs that he had carried on with members of his own staff, charges he admitted were in fact true. "My response to that is, yes I have. Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would.”

On a related note, did you know that much of the personality and off-stage antics of "Krusty The Clown" from the long-running animated TV show "The Simpsons" were reputedly based on David Letterman? (Many of the writers for "The Simpsons" in its early years had previously worked on Letterman's show.)
