Letterman Apologizes Again Last Night

Despite saying last week that he would not discuss the matter further in public, on last night's show David Letterman did bring it up again, this time apologizing to his staff and then to his wife.

In this 3 minute clip embedded below he says at one point, "You have to say to yourself, 'what really happened?' And what really happened was you can't be victimized by criminals..... Through all of the heartache and the attention and the embarrassment, I still feel like I did the right thing."

The self-righteousness at the core of this statement and the emphasis on his own victimhood was really startling, and maybe off-putting I thought. But I have to admit that the joke at the very end was pretty funny.
